[Drawkit] CreativeCommons a permanent part of DrawKit?

Hi all,
Ive been lurking on this list since I found DrawKit, watching with
interest and anxiously awaiting the moment that I have time and can
actually start using it.
Over the years I have had a number of ideas for applications, all of
which required the kind of functionality that DrawKit represents, and
I have sadly put all of them off simply because of the size of the
investment in time that would be required.
To me DrawKit represents a fantastic opportunity, and a hugely
generous offering on the part of Graham (I still vaguely miss maczoop
btw).
Obviously his suggestion of a BSD style license appeals strongly,
simply because it means I get to use all of this fantastic code with
no particular responsibility.
OTOH if he is intending/hoping to make money from it, a BSD style is
probably the worst way he could go, simply because it means I get to
use all of this fantastic code with no particular responsibility.
If everything works out, I will be using the framework for personal
projects which I will be hoping to sell as shareware once they are
complete, what this means is that in terms of cash up front, I would
be pretty lost if the cost was over $100 for usage with a single
application, not because it is not worth that....we all know how much
work this kind of thing is to create...but because I always try to
avoid spending family money on my computer games.
<g> ..and I have yet to release something done in my own time that
made much more than that over a year or so...
What would work best for someone like me is if the development itself
could be done free...even under gpl is fine...but then when/if the
application itself is published I could pay either a relatively low
lump sum for that application....around $100 perhaps, or maybe a
higher amount that would be worked out as a % of sales, although
obviously that has numerous problems.
I have been told in the past that frameworks are hard to make a living
off of, but I can entirely understand Graham wanting to recoup some of
the time and care he has spent creating DrawKit. Making it available
under the BSD would be very generous, but possibly not in his best
interests.
